We had a fairly quiet and uneventful weekend around these parts. Which was good and bad. Good because the stress of the holidays has gotten to me and it was nice to kind of make our own schedule. And then bad because we tend to get a little stir crazy pretty easily.
Like evidenced here. That's marker she's cleaning off of her pants and her hands. And my floor. It was quite the Friday the 13th here. Many meltdowns and all around naughtiness by both children. And the dog.
We have lots of cool Christmas light displays around Omaha so I took the kids out one night to look at some of them.
They thought it was cool for about 10 minutes and then they had enough.
So we stopped at a philly cheese steak place because what screams holiday spirit more than cheese steaks, young children and cheesy "CHEESE" faces?
Since we're getting sick of being inside all of the time (I swear it's one of the coldest Nebraska December's yet!) I set up some stations for the children to do. Because I'll be honest, if I didn't set up some constructive activities the children would be at each others throats. It was just one of those weekends.
They both absolutely loved the felt tree. Thank you Pinterest!
And I've shied away from sensory bins because of A. the mess and B. I didn't think my kids would really like them all that much. But they seriously played with this for 1.5 hours by themselves. Without fighting!!
And it was the most hodge podge sensory bin ever but they really liked it! We also worked on some homemade Christmas gifts from the kids, read lots of Christmas books, and snuggled by the fire and watched a Mickey Christmas movie. Good times! :)
And Sunday I had a squadron spouse's social where we had an ornament and cookie exchange. It was great and I had lots of fun socializing with the other spouses, we sure have a great group here!
Soo not a very exciting weekend (sorry!) but it's our last one without Daddy!!! And that, in itself, is pretty great!
EDIT: Gosh, can't believe I forgot to include this. Wishing my other half a Happy, Happy Birthday! We love you and are counting the hours until you're home with us again. Hope they're spoiling you like crazy over there! XOXO

I JUST made cookies like that yesterday for our cookie exchange tonight! I hadn't done the kiss in a cookie before but they are so cute! :)
What did you put in the sensory bin? Taylor loves sand boxes, so I should make something like that inside that won't be TOO messy. HELP!
I used to love going to look at Christmas lights! Those are some great displays! I think those are some great indoor activities for your kiddos, and I made peanut butter blossoms this weekend just like your picture! I share it tomorrow on my blog! :)
Those activities look like a lot of fun... and I'm so glad it's your last weekend alone! :)
