Weekend Recap

Another weekend flew by, this one was no exception. And sadly, this was our last weekend all together for awhile as Brian is deploying this week. We did make the most of our time together and had another great weekend though!
Friday night we went to an Oktoberfest party that our friends threw. I didn't take many pictures, but I found this one of Layla admiring the sign!  We're so lucky that our kiddos are a little more flexible as we stayed out until 10:30 that night and both kids behaved great! They luckily slept in a little too. Saturday morning we just relaxed around the house, I went to a friend's house to put together 150 (yes, 150!) hotdogs, and then it was naptime, and then Brady's soccer game.

I know girls, soccer isn't my favorite either.

After soccer we headed to Vala's Pumpkin Patch for our squadron's family campfire and cookout. Layla thoroughly enjoyed the food including one of the hot dogs we made!

Gosh my photography skills are just top notch! Having fun at the campfire!

We brought the kiddos to the corn pit.  Layla was crabby the rest of the time there....lo and behold she had about 25 pieces of corn in her diaper. I'd be crabby too!

This was Layla last year in the same corn pit...she's grown up so much! :(

This was Brady last year in the corn pit

And then this year...no hesitation

I'm pretty sure Brady should be a model and I'd be the photographer. Between his excellent poses and my pictures...we'd make millions!

Had to hit up the bouncing pillows with friends too

Pretty sure we need one of these in our backyard. But our friends would all have to be physically fit to use it because heaven forbid.

Brady this year at Vala's with a touch of the crazy eyes.

And last year with the roar.

And the year before with the "Hey ladies, you checking me out?"

And his first year with the "Where the hell did you take me?" But seriously he really has grown so much and I love that this is our family tradition every fall.

Sadly, Layla didn't get her picture taken last year (she was in a milk coma in her stroller, I'm pretty sure) but she loved it this year! Yes, Cheetos bag in hands. The only way I got her to smile. Go ahead, judge away!

Just hanging out in our wagon eating a cupcake. I swear we're not hoarders.

Another picture for the wall! Or perhaps a mug for Daddy?

We did get a somewhat nice family photo though! :)

Me with some of my best gal pals!

As we went around the pumpkin patch, Layla stayed in the wagon and helped herself to the pasta salad we brought.  I am not joking when I say this child eats nonstop. How she is only 22 pounds blows my mind.

I pick this pumpkin, Mommy.

Pasta salad is done, I will now move on to the pumpkin.

Our night was a success! So glad that Brian got to go this year with us.

Saturday was another late night out so we slept in, lazed around for a little bit, and then did lots of work around the house.  We had to get more "things to get done in the house before deployment" items crossed off our list since there's not much time left. It was productive but I'm sure something will still break or fall apart since that's just what happens!

Sunday afternoon we went to a birthday party

And we enjoyed the evening outside together.

Layla surprised us all by asking to go potty and peed and pooped in it! I did take a picture but I'll spare you and just have you know little miss did some work! :)  Aaaand I'm pretty sure the first time Brady pooped on the potty would be this year as a 3 year old and his sister just did it as a 16 month old.  She's amazing! I'm not ready to start potty training again but I'll follow her lead. She's a smart little cookie! :)

And Sunday night Brian and I had a date together at home. It was nice to order some takeout, chat, and just spend time together. I'm certainly going to miss that.  September was a crazy busy month and I can't believe tomorrow is October already. We won't be as busy but we certainly have a lot going on. We've got lots of playdates and events to keep us busy. Someone turns 28 (me?) in a couple of weeks and we'll have family coming into to town to help give me some sanity.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Fall Family Pictures

Our friend, Tara, graciously snapped some fall (and pre-deployment) family pictures for us the other day.  There's nothing more fun than getting 2 young kiddos (and Brian) to sit still and smile for pictures (note the sarcasm) but I am so thankful we did!  Here are some of the pictures she took:

My 'I do what I want which means not cooperating for pictures', Layla, 16 months

Trying to get little lady to smile any way we can!

I just love her to pieces though!

And so does her daddy

She was not havin it! Brady was all smiles though!

I love my little family and cherish the moments we get to spend together.
