Fall Fun

I can't believe it's October already! Seriously, this year is flying by. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. The weather is great, the scenery is beautiful, and there are so many family friendly activities to do! Not to mention it's my birthday month and one of my favorite holidays, Halloween!  We've tried to do as many fall activities as possible so far and have so many planned the rest of this month. Here's some fun fall things we've done so far!:
Fall is the best time to go to our local zoo, the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. The weather is nice and cool, there's barely anyone there thanks to school being in session, and the animals are all still outside. The kids were thrilled to be here, to say the least! :)

Layla had a personal conversation with the gorilla.

I captured a sweet moment between the kiddos.

They've had this Dinosaur exhibit here for quite a few months but I finally took the kiddos to see it this past week.

The dinosaurs were HUGE and they were LOUD!

Brady wasn't too sure

It didn't help that they were motion detected and we were the only ones in there.  Poor thing is super cautious just like his mommy. Layla on the other hand loved it!

Huge moaning triceratops.

And gigantic growling T-Rex

It was pretty neat but I had to talk Brady off the ledge the majority of the time walking through.

We did get to see the baby lions who are not so babyish anymore!

Seriously, our zoo is the bomb.com. If and/or when we move we're going to miss it a lot.

We also went apple picking.

Oh yeah, Layla came too.

These trees are nice and short so the kiddos (and me at 5'2") can reach them

We had to continuously stop Layla from picking up and biting into rotten apples. I tell ya, this child will eat anything.

She did have fun picking too.

Yay, apples! And wind!

Also this fall we have sat in a laundry basket, eating suckers, watching Daniel Tiger. Because what else spells fall other than that?

We also biked to Culvers and got some yummy ice cream

And when I said biked, I meant Brian biked pulling the kids and I drove, my bad!

We finished our deck...finally! Here's proof I painted too! :)

We also have gotten all of our naughtiness out of our systems before Daddy leaves (ha, I can hope, right?!).  Yeah this was a naptime disaster. Never has he drawn on himself with markers before. Somehow he snuck this in his room, drew all over himself (oh yeah and colored his privates in too), and then fell asleep.  I went to check on him and I was FURIOUS!  Markers are still in a time-out.

This fall we've also experimented with ponytails and hair bows. She's getting a little more patient with having them in her hair which makes me super happy!

And we checked out the local Halloween store.

Handsome family, aren't we? :)

Your family cracks me up, Rachel! Love that you drove to the ice cream place and let Brian pull the kids. ;) hahahaha and Brady with the marker. Oh my gosh, there is never a dull moment with that child, is there? ;)

Oh, that picture of Layla and the gorilla is the best. For some reason, I have so many pictures of Taylor and monkeys from the zoo too. Hahahaha.
