Like No Time Has Passed At All

Do you  have that friend that you can go months and months without seeing and when you meet up again it's like no time has passed at all?  You just pick up right where you left off? I am so, so blessed to have several friends like this and one of them is my dear friend, Erin. I met Erin while we were living in Omaha. We met at a Gymboree class of all places. She had a sweet little boy named Brayden who was a year old and I had Brady who was just 9 months old. We started talking at class, realized we lived very close to each other, and our friendship just kind of took off. We are so similar, it's kind of scary. She started dating her husband at 15 too and married him right after college. They have a boy (Brayden) who is now 4 and a girl who is 2, just like our family.  We have similar likes and dislikes and our minds just seem to think the same way! Our boys went to preschool together and I know my kiddos really miss playing with them. We planned this trip for her to visit back in July and I've been counting down the days until her arrival. And finally last Saturday (over a week ago, I'm so behind on blogging!) it was the day!!

I waited at the crazy busy Denver airport for her. My cousin likes to say, there are 2 types of people. People who go in and wait at the airport for people and people who pick them up at the door. Now I used to always be a go in and wait person but with kids that's not always the most practical route.  But luckily I was kiddo free and got to go in the airport to wait for her. I just love the buzz of the airport, watching the emotions of others and everything going on around me. I'll admit many a times I've cried watching someone say goodbye to someone or crying when someone welcomes someone home. Oh, the airport. That's a whole 'nother post...

Anyway she got in and we headed straight to downtown Denver. We walked around the 16th street mall..

had some Colorado beers and burgers..

And then we headed down to Castle Rock to do some major shopping damage at the Outlets. Gosh, that was fun.

That evening Air Force was playing Boise State. We didn't go to the game but wore our AF pride, went to a restaurant not far from the stadium (that's the bright lights in the background), and watched them win!

Sunday morning we headed to Red Rocks for a hike. It was a beautiful morning and perfect weather for a hike!

Brian, being the great Daddy he is, took the kids back to our house while we drove through the mountains to look at the Aspens changing colors.

It was really pretty!

Then we headed to our wine tasting in downtown Manitou Springs.

My wine had crystals in it so yeah that was neat.

They gave us 6 tastings and then 2 GIANT glasses of wine. Needless to say we needed to walk around a little before heading back...

That night we had another fun dinner out. The kids really missed her a lot! And she's basically the equivalent of a saint in my eyes. She dealt with their whining, did their hair, wiped their butts, and read stories to them. Saint.

Monday morning we headed to Garden of the Gods for a hike.
It was another beautiful morning.

That night it FINALLY snowed on Pike's Peak! I've been waiting for the peak to have snow because I think it's just that much prettier with it.

It looked beautiful but it all melted not long after. :(

Tuesday we took Brady to preschool and then headed to "Daddy's work" to see "Daddy's airplane."

That night we snuck out again so she could try one of the local breweries. We enjoyed a ton of girl talk and some yummy beers.

(Our girls weekend wine from D'Vine wine, where we had our tastings."

It was such a wonderful time and I'm so thankful she was able to come out. And that her awesome husband watched the kids so she could do so! So glad we get to see each other again next week while we travel through Omaha to go home!

Ah! D'vine Wine was my favorite little place! So glad you're enjoying it. They make me favorite wine ever - Summit Sunset (a grapefruit wine)!
