Layla 5 Months!

Is it possible that Layla is 5 months old already?! Doesn't seem possible! Layla is my sweet little girl (who, after her photo shoot, is nicely napping!).  Layla is getting so strong. She rolls over both ways all of the time, is starting to push up and push herself around (usually to wherever Brady and his toys are), and likes to be standing or sitting up (with help of course).  She is quite the eater and as soon as Daddy gets home we're going to start her on solids.  She is still exclusively breastfed (I've made it 5 months, woohoo!!) and eats every 2 hours. Every day.  I can't wait to see what she thinks of real food!  Layla is sleeping through the night. I've finally gotten her to start going to sleep earlier now (around 8 rather than 10) and she sleeps usually until 7 or 8.  I've been doing sleep training with her and working with her on putting herself to sleep. It hasn't been easy. She screams her head off when she's tired lately and fights sleep like no other.  She's taking 3-4 naps a day and every nap is a struggle. However she's mostly happy otherwise! :)  She loves being around her doggy and her brother. She also really likes skyping with Daddy on Mommy's phone and thinks that anytime the phone is near that his face will be there.  She's really gotten good at grabbing objects and love pulling at Brady and playing with toys. It looks to me like some teeth are trying to poke through, but we'll see! Here are some pictures of my big 5 month old!
Watching tv with her brother this morning

Photoshoot!

Really Mom? I look like I'm going to a funeral.

Just fitting a quick workout in.

Love her!

Outfit change!

Who, me?

She was then done smiling and started delivering funny faces.

Oooh, airplane!

Hee hee Mom, I see your feet!

The Longest Deployment Ever

Ok I'm exaggerating. It's only been 65 days (but who's counting, right?).  I've just hit my done point. The last couple of weeks of the deployment are the worst. I'm more than ready for Brian to come home and as of today we still don't have a "coming home" date.  It's been a whirlwind of a week with possible "dates", canceled tickets, changed plans, and as of right now Brian is in Tokyo with a broken plane.  I am going to just try and be positive and just get through the next couple of days. We're so close, yet so far away still to the end!  The past week went by soo slow but it was a good week too!

I turned 27 on Tuesday. 27! Seriously, where have the years gone? The first birthday Brian celebrated with me was my 15th. That was 12 years ago!! Crazy.  It was the first birthday in a couple of years that Brian hasn't been here for but my friends and family really spoiled me and I really did have a wonderful day! The babies both slept through the night (best present EVER!). We went out to lunch with my friend Liz and her son Judah, had a visit from my friend Pearlie, and had a delicious dinner and playtime with my friend Alma.  Not to mention a DELICIOUS cheesecake from my in-laws that they sent from Cheesecake Factory for me.  Yum. Thank you for the extra 5 lbs! :)
All of my flowers and cards. Thank you everyone that thought of me!

Layla got a new Baby Einstein jumper. She doesn't really get that you can jump in it but she likes being upright and more on Brady's level.

I just love her chubby cheeks. You better believe I kiss and bite those sweet things everyday! :)

Stare down with the froggy.

Yeah that's right

We're working slowly-let me repeat, SLOWLY- working on potty training with Brady. He's gone pee pee a total of 4 times on the potty. He will not poop on the potty for anything.  He would rather sit on the potty and point to items in the bathroom for me to name (why this is fun I do not know) than actually go potty. He really wanted an M&M (his prize for going potty) the other day so I said, "Ok bud, if you go on the potty you can have 1 yellow M&M".  He must have forgotten because the second he sat down he started pointing at items (this time various things in the drawer) when I reminded him. The second I said yellow he started to pee. Little stinker. I think he just likes to play with me.  This will be an on-going battle. For Daddy to take care of.  :)

This is Layla during her naptime.  Wide eyed and bushy-tailed. I swear they plot to nap at different times and for one to be grouchy while the other is happy.

"Look Mom, I'm eating a lime!"

Saturday night is movie night while Daddy is gone. However, Saturday was taking too long to get here so we watched it on Friday night. This week we watched Lion King. Pretty sure this week movie night will be both Friday and Saturday night.

Brady making sure Layla wasn't scared when Simba's daddy died. They seriously are just the sweetest together.  Never thought Brady would like having a sibling or would be so loving!

And finally sweet Layla giggles. She cracks me up!

So Uncle Sam, feel free to send my hubby home!! :)

Pssst....It's Layla

Welcome. It is me, Princess Layla.  Shhhh...don't tell anyone I'm on here.  My brother banned me from using the computer but he's napping and my mommy's cleaning.  I need to get my story out.  This may be the only time I'm let on here so enjoy. djlaj;ltjeiar;oioedkjgakldjgk;d Sorry. Just trying to get used to this whole computer thing. Carry on. Tee hee hee

Mommy portrays me as this smiley, happy go lucky baby. Which, I am.  Life is good...for the most part!

But I do have a hard "tough" side to me. (AKA don't mess with the L Bean.) Tee hee hee

These big flower headbands are just ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous.

Mommy thinks that I'm the one that wants to hang out with her 24/7. I happen to think it's the other way around. Sometimes I think mommy had me just so she could have another best friend. To watch Lifetime movies with and to go shopping with. I'm not a huge fan of Lifetime movies. They bore me. Sowwy Mommy.

Mommy likes to dress me like her personal doll. Today I'm an owl and skinny jeans.

I happen to like going out with my brother and mommy but sometimes they bring me to scary places.

And sometime they wear scary hats.

Since we're on the subject of my brother.....here we go.

Brady is pretty cool.  He can run fast and jump and sing and do lots of cool stuff.  I admit I want to be just like him.  Sometimes though we get competitive. Here is our "who is prettier" contest.

And our "who is stronger" contest.

Sometimes this is just how we feel about each other though.

And I like to pull his hair. Especially when he reads books about pigs.

Luckily I have no hair for him to pull. Tee hee hee!

I just adore my mommy.....especially what's under her shirt. (Too much?)

So moral of the story is is that my name is Layla.  I like being called Layla bean. I am sweet, cute, giggly, fun, and just all around wonderful. My mom and brother are pretty cool. That guy that we talk to daily is pretty cool too.  But don't call me chubby.....

Or my mommy and I will get you.

ZOO!

Last week was super nice out so  I decided one of the days that our sitter Kaylee was here we would take the kiddos to the zoo.  It amazes me how much each time Brady understands and enjoys the zoo more and more! He had lots of fun showing Kaylee the monkeys and just walking around. It exhausted all of us but we had lots of fun and no tantrums (that's a record!). Here's some pictures from us at the zoo:
Checking out some monkeys in the jungle

Going with Kaylee on the bridge

Holding hands with his favorite gal

Us at the zoo!

These monkeys were SO entertaining!

We sat and watched them for at least 20 minutes, haha!

This one kept put his hand up to Kaylee's!

My Brady man and I at the petting zoo

Run Kaylee, run!

Had to go back and check more monkeys out

We had fun, I swear! :)
